Set sail on a traditional sailboat tour and have a magical family day at sea exploring the islands, history and incredible setting. Meet at Hyères Port at 10am. Captain Stéphane and the sailor will welcome you on board for a coffee and fruit juice whilst they go through safety instructions and the day's agenda with you. The Brigantin will set sail for the Mèdes tip in Porquerolles as it goes around the island via Notre-Dame and Langoustier beaches.
Your host will take you back in time as you gaze at the untamed landscape: from Antiquity to the time of the trade routes which saw the founding of the city of Olbia, the arrival of the Cistercians then invasions by the Greeks, Romans and Barbary pirates who have all left their mark and legends on the island...
Military history with the construction of the forts, Alycastre, Le Langoustier… and the Cap d'Armes lighthouse. Children and adults can get involved in steering or learn to tie knots during the trip. Since you'll be seeing the diversity of scenery as you glide by the coasts, you'll learn about flora and fauna on land and at sea... birds, posidonia and whales at the Pelagos sanctuary. The National Park's missions and philosophy have kept the nature rich and unspoilt and you'll hear all about it. The island is heaving with visitors in summer so, to protect it, you'll set off at midday from a prime spot on Grand Ribaud rather than Porquerolles. Enjoy a complimentary drink and picnic (package with or without) before setting sail under the watchful eye of a sailor (state-qualified diver) for a kayak, paddle or snorkelling tour. And if the conditions are good... you can sail back, rocked by the waves.
