Le Provençal Hotel

Le Provençal Hotel is a long-standing establishment on the Giens peninsula founded in 1951 by the Var-born Marius Michel, the iconic chef behind the Lido in Paris. He bought the bijou 15-room hotel with a brasserie-bar-tobacconist in the heart of Giens village then knocked it down to build a 41-room hotel with incredible views of the Iles d’Hyères. He then bought three plots making it a staggering 2-hectare site running down to the sea. It housed Louis Renault's house which was also a care centre for children. Marius Michel's sister-in-law ran the hotel before her daughter Claude took over in 78 joined by her husband Jean-Paul Piffet, a Parisian pastry chef. She carried on expanding and updating the establishment that she opened up to local clients and built two new houses here.

Her sons Benjamin and Damien took over in 2012.

They spent three years working with a Parisian designer to fully renovate the hotel and give it a signature minimalist look; they redesigned the restaurant menus and built relationships with local businesses too. Their work has made Le Provençal not only a luxury hotel inan incredible setting but also the heart of cultural life and a showcase for premium local produce.

Le Provençal is home to two sites: the 3* hotel and 23 apartments housed in three large villas. It has 5 restaurants.

In the hotel: fine dining with panoramic views in the hotel and village: a bistro and tapas/wine bar. The other two summer restaurants are in the grounds alongside beach volleyball, pétanque and tennis courts and a salt water pool carved into the rocks.

A traditional yet modern haven of peace, Le Provençal brings you a unique setting to unwind and soak up your unspoilt surroundings.
