Kayak or paddle trek

HYèRES

Description

Do you fancy paddling in a kayak or standing on a paddle to explore the islands and coasts of the Giens peninsula? Then this 2.5 hr trek is for you. You just have to be able to swim and listen carefully to your instructor who's waiting for you on Bouvet beach at the Tour Fondue. Ten minutes covering the equipment and how to handle the paddle before discussing the route which all depends on the weather. He'll also tell you about the natural setting of the National Park where you'll be exploring.

Head west and you'll go behind the Tour Fondue whose history you'll learn along with the meaning of its name, before venturing to the Petit Ribaud and Grand Ribaud islands which were bought by Professor Richet, winner of the Nobel prize for physiology in 1913, and are still partly owned by his descendants. A scientist who conducted incredible experiments... but shhh! you'll find out more on your trip! We'll also discuss the Iles d'Or, the Bagaud reserve and Le Levant island's dark times as a penal colony, nicknamed the children's labour camp. Then it's time for a magical break on the Grand Ribaud's beach where you can have a swim under the watchful eye of a qualified instructor. Time permitting, your way back will take you behind the island towards Polynesia before you reach the Tour Fondue.

Please note that the paddle route is shorter.
