Escampobario, the jewel of the Giens peninsula

HYèRES

Description

At the very end of the Giens peninsula lies a magical place with shale cliffs surrounded by foam hanging between the scrubland and the sea: an incredible setting for you to explore on this 2 hour tour. A vibrant route that reveals fabulous 180° views of the Toulon mountains, Colle Noire and Iles d'Or.

The trail runs around the peninsula, overlooks the impressive cliffs from which you can see Sugarloaf Island and takes you to another vista after going through the high scrubland. You wander through a jumble of Mediterranean plants bursting with mastic trees, shrubs, rockrose and junipers before you come out onto the breath-taking Les Chevaliers tip and Calanque du Blé. The last stage takes you to the Salis tip with views of the majestic Escampo-Barriou tip, which your guide will tell you the story behind as the Porquerolles island landscape sets the scene. It's an opportunity to learn about the double tombolo formation on the peninsula, it's one of a kind. The way back is inland so you can explore other landscapes, learn about them, find out how species adapt to the climate and hear about current environmental issues.

This is a privileged opportunity to step into untamed nature and soak it up in all its powerful glory.
