Salted preserves from the Jardins de Porquerolles
Chemin des potagers
Île de Porquerolles
Come and discover our tasty savory preserves, prepared with seasonal fruits and vegetables grown in organic agriculture in Porquerolles. The vegetables picked at maturity, full of sun, offer you the best of their flavor.
Since 2014, the National Park of Port-Cros wished to entrust the maintenance of the orchards of collections of the island of Porquerolles to the Association de Sauvegarde des Forêts Varoises, within the framework of a workcamp of integration. From this partnership between the National Park, the Botanical Conservatory of Porquerolles and the association was born the COPAINS project (COllections PAtrimoine INSertion), an exemplary agricultural project, meaningful and generating links, based on sustainable development.
These orchards of collection welcome 269 varieties of fig trees and 50 varieties of mulberry trees. This diversity offers fruits with multiple shapes, colors and flavors. In addition, seasonal vegetables are offered all year round and are selected from old, local varieties that contribute to the preservation of cultivated biodiversity. A market gardening activity has been taken over since 2017 on about twenty hectares, in compliance with the specifications of organic farming. Thus were born "Les Jardins de Porquerolles".
