"You can be an entrepreneur on the French Riviera and do things differently. And clients appreciate it!"

He is from Bordeaux, she is from Rochelle. They met 30 years ago in business school.

For these senior executives in large companies, the arrival of their children marked a turning point: "We decided to change our lives with the desire to work together, differently, by giving more meaning After two experiences in outdoor accommodation in Six-Fours, then in Le Pradet where they transformed their establishment into an eco-responsible campsite, Pierre-Gilles and Nathalie Artayet want to "push the experience, on a smaller scale, with even more meaning."

In 2018, they bought the small Art Deco hotel spotted on the seafront, and after 4 months of work opened Almanarre Plage, an eco-responsible hotel.

We worked for a year and a half to find out how to reduce our carbon impact..

Concretely?

It means buying in bulk, installing solar panels, buying green electricity, opting for air-conditioning that the client turns on with his key when he gets home, watering the vegetable garden with water from the outdoor shower, etc.

The hotel's environmental label thus attests to a carbon impact reduced by half compared to a conventional hotel!

But Nathalie moderates:

We are not exemplary, we just try to be consistent. We couldn't have a professional life at odds with our personal life. For our services, we look for people who do not necessarily have access to the world of tourism, which allows our customers to live experiences that they will not find elsewhere!

Like meeting Patrick, the sponge fisherman. In this spirit, the couple is banking on regional customers:

You have to learn to travel around your home.

And reading the comments proves it... the customers appreciate it!

In fact, we are not marginalized. Larzac, the goats, it's great, but it's not us. We just want to show that here, on the Côte d'Azur, you can be a business owner and do things differently. It doesn't cost more. And in any case, the question is no longer relevant, we have to do it! Our long-term objective is to be carbon neutral, so we're working on offsetting our emissions.
