Program :

  • Day 1 : Chasseradès

Arrival in the late afternoon at the hotel. Installation in the rooms (2 persons) and meal.

  • Day 2 : Goulet Mountain

Departure from the authentic Lozerian village of Chasserades and the Mirandol viaduct on one of the most picturesque railroad lines in France. Ascent of the mountain of Goulet very frequented in autumn by the "mushroom hunters" many anecdotes around this very local sport!

Passage by the sources of the Lot then arrival on the Bleymard at the foot of the summit of the Mont Lozère.

  • Day 3 : The Mont Lozère

One of the key days of the circuit for Stevenson as for us, the Mont Lozère (1699 m), gateway to the Cévennes of the Camisards. Passage by the crests of the Mont Lozère, the Finiels pass and the high valley of the Tarn then descent on the Gîte du Merlet all in granite with a true peasant welcome! 2 nights planned in this magical place.

  • Day 4 : Sources du Tarn

Loop from the accommodation (possibility of rest for some). Hike on the high granite plateaus of the Lozère mount to the sources of the Tarn, passing by magnificent fortified farms all in granite, witnesses of the rough life of the farmers until the last century: old paddle mill, bread oven, discovery path of the Cevennes National Park, possibility of bathing in the gourgs...

  • Day 5 : Le Pont de Montvert - le Bougés

Descent along the valley of the Tarn to the magnificent village of Pont de Montvert, starting point of the Camisards' fight, a break is necessary! Crossing of the Tarn by the old stone bridge and ascent of the Bougès mountain through its magnificent beech forest. Descent on the valley of the Mimente and on the very pleasant accommodation in Saint Julien d'Arpaon.

  • Day 6 : the Gardon de St Germain valley

Walk along the valley of the Mimente, on the old railroad, and passage by the Stevenson relay. Ascent to the Fontmort plan and the Mars mount, places rich in legends and various stories. Panorama on the valleys of the Gardon and descent in crests until the lodging in full forest of chestnut trees.

  • Day 7 : French Valley & St Jean du Gard

Descent by the old mule tracks along the valley of the Gardon de St Germain, until the Gardon de St Jean. Passage by very beautiful mas as well as by the village of St Etienne Vallée Française. Possible bathing along the Gardon de Saint Jean. Arrival on the typical village of Saint Jean du Gard with its Cévenol Museum, its small steam train and its characteristic sites..
