île de Porquerolles
83400 Porquerolles
France
By bike, on a half-day tour, discover the history of the island of Porquerolles through its fortifications and beautiful views of the island.
Cycle Porquerollais, which has been present on the island since 1974, offers this guided tour of around 2h30 with a naturalist guide who will take you on a bike ride to explore the rich history of Porquerolles, including a visit to two emblematic buildings.
First, a visit to the island's oldest fortification, Fort Sainte Agathe, with its remarkable architecture and exhibition rooms, will give you an idea of what life was like here in centuries gone by. The splendid 360° panorama of the island and the Hyères harbor from the terrace of the tower is also an opportunity to evoke this territory, now managed by the Parc national de Port-Cros.
You'll then head to the Moulin du Bonheur to discover the island's agricultural past, thanks to the extraordinary renovation work carried out on this magnificent site.
Finally, head for the superb views from the southern cliffs, and cross the wine-growing plain of La Courtade for a stop on the beach of the same name.
Back in the village at the end of this ride, you can take a break at the Maison du Parc, in the Jardin Emmanuel Lopez. Keep your bikes until the end of the day, when you can continue to explore other parts of the pearl of the Golden Isles at your own pace.
Please bring suitable cycling clothing, sun cream and a water bottle.
