Port-Cros and Porquerolles snorkelling tour

This 2.5 hour tour introduces people of all ages to the underwater world around a shipwreck in Porquerolles.

Meet at the Tour Fondue for equipment, safety instructions and a presentation of the tour schedule. It starts at the place you're in: the Giens peninsula, islands, National Park and cement carrier shipwreck at the foot of the Jeaune Garde. The barge was used when building the beacon on the north-west tip of Porquerolles. Legend has it that the cement carrier sank 70 years ago to act as a breakwater. The instructor will also discuss the nature site around it. You'll learn to tell the difference between open-sea fish and fixed fauna such as soft coral and sponges. You will then set sail on one of the Espace Mer boats to the island.

You set off near the beacon with the instructor who has a raft and species identification packs. The tour is split between exploring and getting together to detail elements. You'll get very close to the shipwreck that's 5-15m deep. You'll spend time observing the fish around the artificial habitat and during a trek along the rocks: Mediterranean rainbow wrasse, ornate wrasse, damselfish, starfish and sometimes barracuda and dentex... then it's time identify them on the pack.

An experience which is bound to give you a thirst for adventure among these underwater sites!
