** Day 1: Welcome at Hameau de la Minière. Leaving Lac des Mesches, the gateway to the Vallée des Merveilles, we follow a forest track to the hamlet of Les Minières, the base camp for your stay. A 2:00 hike through flora and glacial landscapes. Number of hours' walk: 2 / Ascent: 75 m. Descent: 0 m. ** Day 2 : Val d'enfer and protohistoric shelters Departure for the Merveilles refuge up the Minière valley, and in the afternoon, visit of the first engravings in the archaeological zones. ** Day 3: Tour of the Vallée des Merveilles Complete tour of the Merveilles site via the Arpette restricted area. Discover the best-known engravings (tribal chief, sorcerer, man with zigzag arms, etc.). In the afternoon, return to the Neige et Merveilles gîte. ** Day 4 : Plan Tendasque, the fauna of the valley From the suspended alpine pastures of Plan Tendasque, a mecca for pastoralists at the gateway to the Vallée des Merveilles, we take an unmarked route to get up close and personal with chamois and wolf tracks. Walking time: 4 hours ascent plus: 550 m. Accommodation: Gîte Neige et Merveilles, room with bathroom
** Day 5 : The sacred path and the tree of life We'll visit the 5000-year-old engravings at the Fontanalba archaeological sites. Lunch at the refuge and return to the Neige et Merveilles gîte via the shepherds' path. An exceptional day out. Number of hours' walk: 6 Ascent: 500 m compulsory. ** Day 6 : The village of Tende and the Musée des Merveilles Transfer by car to the village of Tende (30 minutes) for a visit to the Musée des Merveilles to review the knowledge acquired during the hikes and to get a closer look at the tools and weapons used by protohistoric man.
