In the heart of an old horticultural property, the Gîte du Pagoulin welcomes you in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Perfect for nature lovers, homemade meals made with local products and a meeting with the animals of the gite will be offered during your stay.

Close to the city and the sea, the Gîte du Pagoulin is nevertheless located in the heart of the countryside. Here, amidst the fruit trees, you'll discover an unexpected panorama of the horticultural plain and the hills of Hyères.

Pagoulin, in Provençal, means "peasant", and with good reason: you're here on the land of the Barale family, farmers since 1800... "They were market gardeners, then farmers They were market gardeners, then horticulturists. The greenhouses were dismantled in 2000 ," recounts Karine, who opened the establishment in 2015. " The gîtes have been set up in the buildings of the horticultural farm where I have many memories with my grandfather ".

Outside, you'll meet Cachou and Pépète, the two donkeys and the hens who keep the children happy on the huge lawn where they have a slide and swing.

But if the country setting is a source of calm and authenticity, it doesn't imply any renunciation of comfort, or even aesthetics.

Inside, the decor is modern and uncluttered, with terracotta floors, warm, soft colors and wooden furniture custom-made by a carpenter. The quality of the equipment is evident in the bedding, kitchens and bathrooms.

And then there's Karine's dream breakfasts, with organic fruit juices and cereals, jams, chestnut cream and homemade cakes made with fruit from the garden.

The welcome here is like that of a family, which explains why many of our guests have been coming back for 3 years already... and for longer stays!

The establishment is open all year round and has a total sleeping capacity of 6/7 people, spread over 3 rooms or 2 gîtes.

In the immediate vicinity :

  • all shops and amenities ;
  • a bus stop serving the Tour Fondue (boats to Porquerolles), Toulon and Saint-Tropez;
  • free shuttle bus to the historic center (1.3 km);
  • the bike path, 3 km from the sea.

No need for a car, Karine can pick you up at the station.

À la rencontre de...

In the beautiful stone house renovated with her husband Damien, Karine Bonne welcomes you with a mixture of serenity and gentleness. She is happy to live here " It was my grandfather's house ". You'd think she'd lived here all her life, following a well-trodden path..

In fact, Karine, a doctor in organic chemistry, and Damien, originally from the Vosges, a teacher-researcher at the University of Aix-Marseille, only returned to Hyères in 2010.

We were both settled in our professional lives, then our twins were born and the idea of the gîte came to me during my parental leave, to try and reconcile family life and professional activity.

With no regrets! Now that the gîte business is viable, I've been able to quit my previous job and enjoy spending time with my children, which is a unique quality of life. What's more, I'm enjoying my new activity, and I'm happy to be able to welcome guests in the places where my family has lived and worked.

The couple drew up the plans and imagined their project with respect for the environment in mind. Their large wooded garden, once home to the family's horticultural greenhouses, is growing in size with the multitude of plantings and facilities for insects and birds that the couple have created; they have also welcomed chickens, geese, donkeys and goats, to the delight of young and old alike.

At breakfast, everything is organic, homemade and local, and Karine takes pleasure in offering a variety of homemade pastries every morning, to ensure that travelers' stay is a pleasant one for the taste buds too.

When I heard about the Esprit parc nationalbrand , I applied. It fits in with our state of mind: my parents have always taken my sister and me on vacation to the national parks: Vanoise, Ecrins, Mercantour... Now we've taken over with our children!

Passionate about nature, the little family loves hiking and cycling, and will be delighted to advise you on itineraries to discover the Port-Cros National Park.
