Can you recognize the birds that frequent the Soulor pass?

The Soulor pass is well known for its pastoral activity and its cheese making, but it is also a privileged site for the observation and the migration of birds of prey. More than 50 000 birds are counted each year (black kites, bee-eaters, Egyptian vultures, white-tailed eagles, storks...)

We will start the day with an initiation to the observation and listening of bird songs on the thematic path of passerines to then join an ornithological association specialized in the observation and the migration of raptors:

- anatomy and physiology of the bird,

- daily and seasonal activity of birds,

- observation, identification and why it is essential to observe them without disturbing them,

- sedentary and migratory birds,

- the different types of migrations,

- use of guides, identification boards, sound guides, signage for the passerine and raptor trail

- why do birds migrate? Why do they go so far? How do they come back to the same place?

- tasting of cheese from the Val d'Azun

Duration of the outing : 5h
