On August 1, 2010, the "Pitons, cirques and remparts" of Reunion Island were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The heart of the Parc national de La Réunion is recognized worldwide for its exceptional biodiversity and unique landscapes. Amandine, Alexis and Didier, all three mountain guides, invite you to discover this exceptional heritage, close to the Piton de la Fournaise.
Born from the bowels of the earth over 530,000 years ago, the Piton de la Fournaise is still one of the most active volcanoes on the planet. Culminating at an altitude of 2,632 metres, it promises visitors a change of scenery in an almost lunar landscape. And yet, in these arid lands shaped by successive eruptions, a remarkable flora has managed to adapt and offers an unusual spectacle, proof of the resilience of Life.
