In the heart of the Mercantour National Park, the Merveilles refuge is located on the shores of Lake Long Supérieur, not far from the rock engravings of the Merveilles Valley, surrounded by numerous lakes, peaks and breathtaking hiking trails.
The refuge is located on the shores of Lake Long Superior, in the heart of the Vallée des Merveilles. Between Mont Bego and Cime du Diable, you will be witness to history by going to the place. There, tens of thousands of rock engravings are visible at more than 2000m of altitude.
The Merveilles refuge is a must-see in the Mercantour Park, because of its exceptional site of rock engravings, but also because of the numerous hiking routes that surround it.
Alone, with your family or friends, you can visit the engraving sites near the refuge every day. Hikers will have a wide choice of itineraries. The refuge is located on the GR52, and can be a stopover point towards the refuge of Nice or that of Valmasque.
The mountaineers will go to the Mont Bégo, the Grand Capelet, the Cime du Diable or the Cime des Merveilles. In winter, a number of itineraries will be accessible to ski tourers.
