Refuge of the Pic du mas de la Grave

The refuge has 32 places organized in 8 small dormitories of 4. It is energy autonomous and has showers, a sauna and a meeting room. Its large bay window offers an exceptional view on the north face of the Meije... possibility to install a tent.

Close to the GR 54, the refuge offers a choice stopover on this route, but is also an ideal destination for family hikes. You can discover the Emparis plateau (listed site), cross over to the Goléon refuge or climb to the peak of mas de la grave 3021 m .

Overnight stays possible on your own, or in a tent. Close to the GR54 and crossing to Besse and Mizoen (refuge des Moutères, chalet de Fay) or to the refuge du Goléon

Access:

The refuge can be reached from the small hamlet of Le Chazelet (parking lot) on a good track in about 1h30. After passing through the 3 small hamlets of Les Rivets, you reach the Croix de Tuf. From here, follow the valley to reach the refuge, located on the left bank of the Gâ at the confluence with the Courbeille torrent (lieudit les baraques des Salomons). Elevation gain 250 m, distance 6 km. The refuge can also be reached from the right bank of the valley by taking the good Combettes trail.
