Only a 30 minute walk from the Bellecombe parking lot, the Plan du Lac refuge is one of the most accessible refuges in the Vanoise National Park. It is an ideal place to get away from it all without getting exhausted! Open all year round, a restaurant service is available during the guarding periods. The gite is accessible to people with disabilities.
From the refuge, the view is open on the high summits of Vanoise : Pointe de la Réchasse, Dent Parachée, Grande Casse and the glaciers. The panorama is worth the detour! Juliette and Guilhem welcome you in this refuge composed of 42 beds. You will be able to sleep there or simply to eat. On the menu : Savoyard specialities with good local products and exotic touches ! You will certainly eat well.
The refuge is accessible from the Bellecombe parking lot, either by the free shuttle bus from Termignon or with your own vehicle. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the refuge from the parking lot. The refuge has a road access limited to the entitled persons. Disabled people can ask for an authorization from the Vanoise National Park to go up by car. The refuge of Plan du Lac is a refuge labeled Tourism and Handicap. The refuge is guarded in summer from the beginning of June to the end of September. In spring, the refuge is guarded for ski touring and snowshoeing. Outside of these guarded periods, a winter refuge remains open.
Juliette and Guilhem are janitors of the Plan du Lac refuge in Termignon (Savoie), in the heart of an open landscape overlooking the high peaks of the Vanoise.
We've been looking after this refuge for 8 years, in this magnificent panorama. We came here by chance. When we met over 20 years ago, we wanted to become refuge wardens, but it wasn't the right time. It was just an idea that popped into our heads, and then as we turned 40, the desire came back like a bolt of light: we had to become refuge wardens!
In 2015, Guilhem trained as a refuge keeper, and Juliette as a cook, to give the best possible welcome to the public.
" We discovered the job and we love it, welcoming people, making them happy, cooking for them and seeing the smiles on their faces. What's really important to us is also to develop the reception of people with reduced mobility, and this is the case at Le Plan du Lac, which isa Tourisme et Handicap-labeled refuge! "
We' ve had the Esprit Parc Nationallabel almost from the start. Here we use local, environmentally-friendly products. The Esprit parc national label is a plus because we're part of a network, which we hope to see develop in Vanoise. We meet quite regularly for training sessions, for example on alternative cooking - I loved it! It's initiatives like this that give meaning to the network.
