My job as "glaciers" project manager at the Parc des Écrins involves organizing and participating in the monitoring of the Glacier Blanc with a view to assessing its mass.
On this one-day trip, you'll learn what a mass balance is, and take ablation readings by measuring the milestones set by glaciologists and Park staff. You'll learn how to read the landscape for traces left by glaciers. You'll also learn how to use ice axes and crampons for glacier travel.
