Palm hike Port-Cros and Porquerolles

Rendezvous at La Tour Fondue for the distribution of the equipment, the presentation of the safety instructions and the presentation of the program of the hike. First of all, the place where we are: the peninsula of Giens, the islands, the National Park and finally the wreck of the cement barge which is located at the foot of the Jeaune Garde. This barge was used to build the beacon located on the northwestern tip of Porquerolles. The story goes that the cimentier was sunk 70 years ago to serve as a breakwater. The instructor will also talk about the natural environment that surrounds it. You will learn to distinguish between open water pelagic fish and fixed fauna, such as gorgonians and sponges. You will then embark on one of the boats of the Espace Mer center to reach the island.

The launching is done near the beacon around the instructor who has a raft and identification plates of the species. The walk will be divided between exploration time and grouping to detail the elements. You will observe very closely the wreck which lies between 5 and 15 meters. We will take the time to observe the fish around this artificial habitat and during a walk along the rocks: Caddisfishes, Peacockfishes, Castagnoles, starfishes and sometimes also Barracudas and Dentis... The game will be to identify them on the plate.

An approach that will certainly make you want to go further in the discovery of these underwater territories!
