Underwater Biology Internship

The Eden Plongée team in Port-Louis invites you to discover the biological wealth of the Grand-cul-de sac marin bay. This natural environment, which unites the islands of Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre, covers an area of 15,000 ha, with the largest coral reef in the Lesser Antilles as its maritime boundary.

It has been recognized as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and is classified by the RAMSAR convention (a label of international recognition of the importance of maintaining and protecting wetlands). This is why the Guadeloupe National Park is working to protect it. The Grand-Cul-de Sac Marin is a fragile area that includes mangroves, sea grass beds, islets and reefs. Discovering it means taking all the appropriate precautions.

With this in mind, Eden Plongée offers an ecological approach to scuba diving. Alain Goyeau, the company's founder and a passionate underwater biologist, has developed his business with the aim of making it a benchmark for the discovery and preservation of underwater ecology in Guadeloupe. When you choose Eden Plongée, you'll discover underwater activities in complete safety, supervised by instructors who are as qualified as they are passionate about preserving marine ecosystems. To deepen your discovery of the underwater environment, Eden Plongée offers training in the observation of underwater biology. The diving center has been running these courses since 2002, both for future instructors and for amateurs. You'll learn to distinguish between animal and plant life underwater. In this way, you'll be able to enjoy your next dive even more, knowing how to recognize the species around you and their way of life.

The course is supervised by Eden Plongée, which provides the theoretical training and supervises the practical observation sessions at Grand-Cul-de Sac Marin dive sites. It also includes the participation of outside contributors such as scientists.

Public: Open to divers holding at least a Level 1 scuba diving certificate, and at least Level 2 to obtain a diploma.

Locations: Port Louis and Baie du Grand-Cul-de Sac Marin.

Course : 2 or 4-day course recognized by PADI or FFESSM

For more information on course dates, please contact EDEN Plongée.

More information about the center: Eden Plongée is a professional diving center accredited by the Fédération Française d'Études et de Sports Sous-Marins. It offers PADI certification. Eden Plongée is an ambassador center for the Longitude 181 Nature association, which campaigns for the protection of underwater environments. It also adheres to the Responsible Diver Charter. Eden Plongée also offers training in underwater photography.

We invite you to take a look at the Eden Plongée website, which will give you a wealth of additional information, both on the activity and on the underwater biology you'll encounter in Guadeloupe.
