In Esquièze-Sère, a stone's throw from Luz Saint-Sauveur, in the heart of the Toy Country, La Carde has been making blankets, quilts and clothing from local wool since 1891.
At the beginning, Joseph Cazenave and his wife Marie were already working in the spinning mill. Their son Louis and his wife Catherine followed in their footsteps and created La Carde. In total, five generations have passed on the torch of what remains, still today, a family and artisanal company.
With the will to work with local wools, the company collects the noble material from about thirty breeders of the Toy Country or the neighbouring valleys. Once spun, the wool is woven and made up on the spot in the Carde's workshops and then sold in the store, where free visits are also offered.
