At the gateway to the volcano, discover the Forêt du Rempart, a veritable sanctuary of biodiversity.
For nearly 4 years, Fabien and Jay have been working to restore this 7-hectare colorful woodland, while raising public awareness of environmental protection. To this end, they regularly organize guided tours and educational workshops with the marmay. You can also discover local products from their agroforestry farm.
Perched among the ramparts in an exceptional setting, it's the ideal place to reconnect with wild nature and discover the treasures of Reunion's biodiversity.
"More than a guided tour, it's an experience, a journey to the heart of Reunion, to the heart of culture, to the heart of nature that we'd like to share with people."
Adult admission: 7 €
Children's admission (under 6 years old): 5 €
Payment possible by check or cash
In Saint-Joseph, on Reunion Island, Fabien has been working for several years to restore the park and preserve its unique ecosystem. During guided tours, he shares his passion for nature and raises public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
We've set up a small botanical circuit, about 1 km long, on which we present the different species of the forest, the birds and the role of forests. We've focused the visit on raising awareness of environmental preservation. And that's one of the challenges of the Esprit Parc Nationalbrand: first and foremost, to pass on our passion for nature and the forest. We also want to pass on our knowledge of biodiversity and raise awareness of the need to preserve the environment.
This property has been in my family for around a hundred years, and I was lucky enough to inherit this area, which covers around ten hectares and includes a 7-hectare forest of coloured wood.
We took over management of this site about 3 years ago with my friend and associate Jay, and we set ourselves the goal of restoring this forest. We are carrying out a number of actions, such as combating invasive exotic species, harvesting in the forest to collect seeds, then putting them into production before replanting the trees in the forest a little later.
It's really a call to nature, and I think today we really need to get back to nature, and this is the ideal place to do that.
It's a place accessible to everyone, children and the elderly, where you can discover all the little secrets of nature and spectacular landscapes.
