île de Porquerolles
83400 Hyères
France
By bike, on a half-day tour, discover the history of the island of Porquerolles through its fortifications and beautiful views of the island.
Present on the island since 1974, the Cycle Porquerollais offers you this guided tour of about 2h30 with a naturalist guide who will take you on a bike ride to explore the rich history of Porquerolles with a visit of two emblematic buildings.
First of all, the visit of the oldest fortification of the island, the Fort Sainte Agathe, with its remarkable architecture and its exhibition rooms, will allow you to imagine the life in these places in the most distant centuries. The splendid 360° panorama on the island and the harbor of Hyères which will be offered to you from the terrace of its tower, will also be the occasion to evoke this territory managed nowadays by the National Park of Port-Cros.
You will then go to the Moulin du Bonheur to discover the agricultural past of the island thanks to the extraordinary renovation work of this magnificent site.
Finally, you will go to the superb viewpoints of the southern cliffs as well as the crossing of the wine-growing plain of La Courtade for a stop on the beach of the same name.
Back to the village at the end of this walk, you can take a break at the Maison du Parc, in the Jardin Emmanuel Lopez. You will keep the bikes until the end of the day to continue to walk and discover at your own pace other places in the pearl of the Golden Islands.
Please bring appropriate clothing for cycling, sun cream and a water bottle.
