Fresh vegetables - Les Jardins du Cosmos

Based in Leuglay since 2019, Loïc and Isabelle JOUNOT grow organic vegetables, i.e. without synthetic products (fertilizers, pesticides, GMOs...), respecting the environment, biodiversity and natural resources (water, soil, air...). They produce their own plants, for which they have taken care to select specific varieties (colors, flavors...).

Everything is done by hand! No big machines, just small tools (fork, rake, shovel...).

Les Jardins du Cosmos practice "living soil" market gardening over a small area; on the 4000 m² cultivated, the soil is not worked. Earthworms and other small animals do the work! They decompose matter (leaves, stems, wood, etc.) and aerate the soil by creating their galleries. Water infiltrates better and vegetable roots penetrate more easily. Just like in the forest!

To nourish soil life, Loïc brings in wood shavings and compost (decomposed green waste), plants plant cover crops (or green manures), leaves all crop residues (foliage, roots) on site, and sometimes even invites chickens into the gardens. Soil life is always active, recycling matter and providing plants with the nutrients they need for growth.

Settled since 2021 in Leuglay in the Côte d'Or, Loïc Jounot grows organic fruit, vegetables and aromatic plants on a 2.1-hectare plot of land in the heart of the National Forest Park.

My strengths?

Production based entirely on maintaining and improving the biological life of the soil.

Continuous observation of the soil's vitality and optimized soil management.

As the seasons go by, my plots are enriched with organic matter, permanent cover crops and minimal tillage.

I don't grow vegetables and fruit, but I do consider myself a breeder of earthworms in my soil.

It makes me proud to be in a National Park.
