A gardener with a passion for animal and plant life, I grew up on a farm where I began to observe and develop a passion for the relationships between living beings in Nature.
My common thread is nature, living things and how they work. My career path has taken me from farming to working horse training, equestrian tourism, nature activities, hiking, cycling and mountain biking. I returned to farming as a beech farmer, while continuing to work part-time as a hiking guide and nature organizer.
At Sauveplane, the most common variety of chestnut is the Gène, an early variety that starts to fall at the end of September. Harvesting lasts until early November, depending on weather conditions. The chestnuts are harvested by hand, and the trees are grown in the traditional, natural way, without the use of synthetic chemicals.
