It is in Monoblet, a small village in the south of the Cévennes National Park and the cradle of French sericulture, that the mas des Manhans (silkworms in Occitan) is nestled, surrounded by mulberry and chestnut trees.
The vineyard covers 10 hectares and boasts a breathtaking view of the "twins", the two hills that are local celebrities.
Julien worked for several years as a shopkeeper before turning to agriculture to offer healthy, high-quality products rich in flavor. He was also keen to get closer to nature by working the land and the vines.
This young winemaker set up shop in 2017, taking over the Mas des Manhans estate specializing in the production of organic wines with no added sulfites.
Taking over such an estate and its 10 ha of organically farmed vines since 2004 was an obvious choice, as was perpetuating an exceptional wine production that is both organic and without added sulfites.
This approach and specialization correspond to Julien's desire to offer healthy products in harmony with nature.
Mas des Manhans produces 200 hL of wine a year, mainly for red wines. The estate also produces white and rosé wines to suit all palates.
Julien's wines are original, distinctive and of the highest quality, and all benefit from the IGP Cévennes appellation.
Mas des Manhans' credo is to sell as locally as possible to encourage local commerce.
You'll find the estate's wines on sale in several producers' stores and organic stores in the southern Cévennes.
You can also come and discover them on site, where the Mas des Manhans will be happy to welcome you for a tasting (don't hesitate to call to let us know you're coming).
In Monoblet, the historic cradle of French sericulture, Julien Pibarot and Laure Girardet have been cultivating ten hectares of vines in the heart of an unspoilt Cévennes valley since 2010. Forests, chestnut trees and mulberry bushes line their Mas des Manhans vineyard, providing an ideal setting for synthetic input-free viticulture.
We have chosen to work exclusively mechanically and to vinify without sulfites. This strong commitment is based on the practices of yesteryear: treatment with sulfur and copper, as the ancients did. This approach ensures natural regulation. Insect pests don't proliferate in our vineyard because there are bats, praying mantises..
Beneficiaries of the Esprit parc national brand, they see this label as a lever to enhance the value of their approach.
Esprit parc national adds value to the product. It shows consumers that the wine they are buying comes from a preserved area.
Their red, rosé and white IGP Cévennes wines are sold locally, in the cellar and in a few outlets in the Gard region. A work of conviction, deeply rooted in its territory.
