It will accompany you in your quest for well-being and reconnection.
Observing, taking in and unwinding
The beauty of the Cévennes National Park’s landscapes reflects the extraordinary variety of natural habitats making it up: lush forests, golden moors and vast stretches of grassland, home to a wide variety of wildlife, will all harmoniously spread before your gaze. The spectacular and enigmatic flora of this UNESCO biosphere reserve includes forty protected tree and flower species. The agropastoral landscapes, teeming with greenery and life, have earned the National Park a place on the list of World Heritage Sites.
As daylight fades, revel in Europe's largest International Dark Sky Reserve. Savour the feeling of fulfilment under the night sky and find your own sense of well-being.
Immerse yourself in the expanses of Mont Lozère from Mas de la Barque lodge
Nestling in the heart of a dense, encircling forest, Mas de la Barque lodge is the ideal starting point for your hikes and explorations in the valleys and wild moors of Mont Lozère. Yoga, Nordic walking or massages: the Mas de la Barque will also provide you with the leisure and getaway activities you need for your summer sunsets and winter evenings.
Watch the dance of the vultures from the Roc des Hourtous
The magnificent vultures of the Cévennes dancing in the skies as you reach the steep edges of the Causse Méjean. You’re on the Roc des Hourtous, which patiently overlooks the gorges of the Tarn and their labyrinth of deep-cut rivers. You can see the nooks and crannies of the valley from here, or set off along the "bird trail", an immersive walk through the hamlet of Rieisse and its Caussernard buildings, windswept moors and mysterious forest undergrowth.
Lazing in the Gardons valleys
You'll descend into the narrow, winding Gardons valleys on the other side of the Causse. In this haven of rest, you’ll alternate between warmth and coolness from hiking to swimming. The more discreet can even try to spot the otters and beavers living in the white waters of this little paradise. Round it all off by following the Stevenson trail: listed buildings, agricultural landscapes and the famous Désert Museum, all telling the story of the Cévennes' Protestant past.
