Stay Tour de l'Aigoual

The southern Cévennes are the occasion for varied hikes within the Cévennes National Park, in very colorful landscapes, from green oaks to high altitude conifers, through the bright yellow of brooms in spring, to the mauve of heathers in autumn.

• Day 1 : arrival at the lodging

Arrival at the Monna lodging, an old silkworm farm located on the river bank. Accommodation in rooms and evening meal.

• Day 2 : Coastal area

Departure on foot for a superb path on the ridges between the valleys of Lozère and Gard, this path is still used by sheep twice a year. Lodging isolated in the middle of the forest, in a comfortable gîte d'étape (rooms of 8).

• Day 3 : Mont Aigoual

Climb to the famous summit of the Aigoual (1565m), from where a 360° panorama is offered to us: 1/3 of France on a clear day, from the Mont Blanc to the Canigou via the Plomb du Cantal. Visit of the Aigoual weather museum. Descent on the Esperou by the draille and the watershed (Atlantic and Mediterranean).

Very comfortable accommodation in guest rooms at l'Esperou (rooms of 2).

• Day 4 : Valley of Happiness

Ascent of the Faubel pass and quiet descent on the banks of the Trévezel, arrival on the small limestone causse of Camprieu with the visit of " the Perte du Bonheur " and its resurgence " the Abîme de Bramabiau ". Ascent to the Serreyrède pass, along the valley of happiness, on the Atlantic side. Visit of the remains of the Romanesque Abbey of Bonahuc from the 10th century.

Return to the previous day's accommodation.

• Day 5 : Dourbies

Departure from l'Esperou, by the pass of Faubel, very beautiful itinerary by the crests between the valley of Dourbie and Trévezel and numerous views on the Grands Causses. Passage by the Ubertes pass, a place of transhumance at the time with its numerous high altitude pastures. Descent on the Dourbie river until the family house of Dourbie.

• Day 6 : St Guiral - Alzon

After a progressive ascent, we will culminate at 1350m of altitude, at the top of the legendary peak of St Guiral. 360° panorama from the Cantal Mountains to the Mediterranean Sea, passing by the Causses. Magnificent descent by the crests on the village of Alzon.

Lodging in group gites with 2 to 4 beds.

Elevation gain: up 460m, down 750m Duration: 6h.

• Day 7 : Cirque de Navacelles

Short transfer by vehicle. Departure from the Causse de Blandas with its typical limestone vegetation, we will join a path overhanging the Vis gorges. We will dive on Vissec, village installed on the dry banks of the river. The river takes its source at the famous Saint Guiral and then disappears for 13km before reappearing. Access to its resurgence on the exceptional site of the Moulin de la Foux. Then we go up from the village of Navacelles in the hollow of the Cirque, to Blandas. End of the trip at 5 pm.
