France
The Château de Montigny-sur-Aube, located in the National Forest Park, is an exceptional place where culture and heritage are combined with horticulture, market gardening and gastronomy. The orchards and vegetable gardens are a place not to be missed, classified as Remarkable Gardens of France.
Rehabilitated in 2010, they bear witness to the know-how of 19th century gardeners, through the achievement of techniques in vogue such as espaliers or grafts.
The orchards are adjacent to the English park, near the Orangery. They represent a space of 5 244 m2 enclosed by walls and are divided into :
- 3 vegetable gardens: the frame garden, the children's garden and the tomato and potato area;
- 4 fruit gardens: clos des caissiers, clos des fruits rouges, clos des cordons and clos des pêchers;
- 1 garden of mellifers and its apiary with hemp cob and wood sides.
