Day bike ride to discover the heritage and vineyards of the island of Porquerolles
1 rue de la Ferme
île de Porquerolles
83400 Porquerolles
France
By bike, discover the rich heritage of the heart of the island of Porquerolles and taste the wines of one of the oldest estates of the island.
Cycle Porquerollais has been present on the island since 1974, and offers you this 5.5-hour walk with a naturalist guide who will introduce you to two facets of Porquerolles: its agricultural face and the diversity of its history.
The first part will be devoted to discovering the Courtade plain and its vineyards: bordered by a magnificent beach and an avenue of eucalyptus trees, surrounded by hills and scrubland and dotted with umbrella pines, it is home to 35 hectares of vines carefully cultivated organically since 1997.
You'll then appreciate the subtleties of this terroir over a wine tasting at Domaine de la Courtade.
After a lunch break in the village or a picnic on the beach, you'll peacefully set off to conquer Fort Sainte Agathe, from where a 360° panorama offers an exceptional view of the island and the Hyères harbor. The exhibition rooms in this fortification, the oldest on Porquerolles, provide a fascinating insight into the history of this admirable territory, now managed by the Parc national de Port-Cros.
Finally, the Moulin du Bonheur reveals its secrets amidst the olive trees.
When you return to the village at the end of the tour, you can keep the bike and continue walking at your own pace, or take a break at the Maison du Parc in the Jardin Emmanuel Lopez.
Please bring cycling-appropriate clothing, sun cream and a water bottle, as well as a picnic or restaurant in the village.
